New Jersey State Flag

New Jersey State flag was adopted in 1896. New Jersey’s flag is made of a state seal placed against a beige colored background. The beige color was inspired by George Washington. It was the color of the uniforms worn by the New Jersey Continental Line during the Revolutionary War. The state seal was originally drawn by Pierre Eugene du Simitiere in 1777. An early version of the same flag was flown by New Jersey regiments during the war.
