Wyoming State Flag

Wyoming State Flag  was adopted in1917. Wyoming’s flag is made of  a buffalo silhouette with the state seal on it on a blue background. The state flag was originated from a contest organized in 1916  by the local Daughters of the American Revolution. From 37 entries, Verna Keays’ buffalo design won the contest. It was officially adopted as the state flag in 1917.  After the flag was adopted, local DAR regent Grace Raymond Hebard suggested to turn the bison to face the hoist of the flag. After her suggestion, reproductions of the flag have followed this change even though it was never formally adopted by the state.
