Indiana state flag

Indiana state flag was first adopted in 1917. During the Indiana General Assembly in a 1916, in resolution to commemorate the state’s centennial anniversary, a contest was sponsored by the Daughters of the American Revolution. The state received more than 200 designs. The winning entry was designed by Paul Hadley. His design had 19 stars as the 19th state to enter the Union, and a gold torch sybolized liberty and enlightenment
